Rimini Meeting: fighting hunger
(Vatican Radio) The 33 rd annual Meeting for Friendship among Peoples concludes Saturday in the Italian resort town of Rimini. Food security is just one of the many issues being discussed at the annual Rimini Meeting, sponsored by the lay movement Communion & Liberation. The Executive Director of the World Food Programme, Ertharin Cousin was one of the featured speakers at an event called, “Nourishing people, feeding hope: Hunger, Waste, and Sustainable Development.” Cousin told Vatican Radio that, although some significant ground has been gained in the fight against hunger, the battle is far from over. “The crisis remains,” said Cousin. “We cannot suggest that, because [there are fewer than] a billion [hungry] people, it is no longer a crisis,” she continued, adding, “it is the world’s greatest solvable problem.” Listen : ...
