(Vatican Radio) Fifty years on from that first session of the Second Vatican Council called for by John XXIII and inherited by Paul VI a conference is taking place in the Vatican by the title : " The Second Vatican Ecumenical Council in the light of the archives of the Council Fathers''. A three day conference which began on the 3 rd of October. Jesuit Father Gerald Fogarty is Professor of religious studies and history at the University of Virginia in the United States. His primary expertise is in the history of the Catholic Church in the United States and particularly the relationship with the Vatican. He’s also one of the speakers at this conference presenting a paper by the title of: “ Writing the History of Vatican II: An overview of Archival Resources in the United States of America”.
